More Illinois Political Weirdness

Let's see -- former congressman Mel Reynolds was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography, as well as 15 counts of bank fraud and lying to SEC investigators. Now he wants to be elected to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. in congress.

He's served his time, but still -- he doesn't seem to be the kind of person I'd want representing me.

Here We Are Again!

I'm back after a long absence, tan, rested and ready to blog. I'm testing the Blogsy app on my iPad and so far it seems to work ok. I'll know more when I get things completely set up and can import photos.
So far setup has been quick and easy.

Blagojevich Corruption is Stunning

Technorati Tags: ,,

The depth and breadth of today’s corruption charges against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich are stunning – but stunning is too mild a word.

The Criminal Complaint is available online in several places. Read it and be amazed by the greed, the lack of respect for the citizens of Illinois, and the tag-along mentality of the Governor’s staff and advisors. This is world class political sleaze.

What little respect I had left for politicians has been carpet-bombed into ashes by Rod and his gang of gangsters.

Windows Live Writer Beta

Another Windows Live Writer test. This time it’s the latest beta version. I don’t remember all that much about the look and feel of the previous version, but this one is compact, clean and looks to be functional. The new features allow you to automatically insert a video or a map.

I’ll know more after I use this thing for a while. It’s obvious from the dates that I haven’t done much blogging lately.

Greenspan admits 'flaw' - Yahoo! News

Our old friend, Alan Greenspan, testified before congress today. Yahoo News has the following quote:

Greenspan, 82, acknowledged under questioning that he had made a "mistake" in believing that banks, operating in their own self-interest, would do what was necessary to protect their shareholders and institutions. Greenspan called that "a flaw in the model ... that defines how the world works."

Greenspan denies blame for crisis, admits 'flaw' - Yahoo! News

Back when I was in the banking business, banks hardly ever committed suicide. And they seldom made loans to people that they suspected might not be able to pay.

This isn't a "flaw in the model", it's a flaw in the people that run things. The cause is greed. Pure, selfish greed, compounded by stupidity.

My Ego is Shattered

I just got one of those automated toll-free calls. When I answered, the machine hung up on me.

Thanks a lot, Mr. Toll-Free Caller Person!
